Objective 1
Use value, color, and texture to create interest.
The 4th graders were still working on their road trip through Utah project. So i decided to have them create a piece of art that can coincide with their project. The following pictures were my inspirations.
I then Showed the kids an example of what their final products may look like.
They completed these works of art by:
First tracing a piece of a utah map that happened to be their favorite.
Second they made a list of things that represented either that county or utah to them.
Third they drew these symbols using only black and white to create contrast.

In the end the kids loved their maps and were able to complete two art projects for their road trip project.
This is a great idea! I like how you you structured the assignment. I think it pushed students to make something they couldn't do on their own, and still allowed them to use their creativity.
